Privacy Policy

Gert Lush Games ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Geo Battles mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app. Your use of the app is also covered by our Terms of Use.

1. Information We Collect and How We Use It

• Guest accounts: When you first play, we use Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous account. This assigns you a unique identifier (UID) that is not linked to your name or email, and is used to save your progress.
• Sign in with Apple or Google (optional): You can link your account to Apple or Google so your progress can be restored on another device. If you do, Firebase Authentication receives an account identifier and the email address associated with that sign-in (with Sign in with Apple, this may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email). We use this only to sign you in. It is not shown to other players.
• Your profile and gameplay: We store your username, your selected flag avatar, your rating, wins and losses, streaks, and your match history, including your answers and scores. This is needed to run the game and match you against other players.
• What other players can see: Your username, flag avatar, rating, and results are visible to other players, for example to opponents and in search. Please do not put personal information in your username.
• Region setting: When your account is created, we read your device's region setting once to suggest a starting flag avatar. We do not collect your GPS or precise location, and your flag is simply an in-game choice you can change at any time.
• Push notifications: If you allow notifications, we store a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can tell you when it is your turn or when results are in. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.

2. Username Moderation

Usernames are checked automatically against a list of words that are not allowed, and we may also review usernames ourselves. If a username breaks our Terms of Use, we may replace it and ask you to choose a new one. When this happens we keep a record of the removed username against your account so that it cannot be chosen again.

3. Advertising

This app uses the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK to show advertisements, and may also show ads from Meta Audience Network through AdMob mediation. To serve these ads, these partners may collect and use data such as:

• Your device's Advertising ID (like Apple's IDFA or Android's Advertising ID).
• Your IP address and general device information.
• Data regarding your interactions with ads.

Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can review or change your choice at any time under Profile > Privacy Settings in the app, and you can also opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings.

4. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how players use Geo Battles. This tracks information such as how long you play, which screens you visit, and your general device type (e.g., iPhone 15). This helps us improve the game experience.

We use Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix problems. When the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent containing technical details such as your device model, operating system version, app version, and what the app was doing at the time.

We also use Firebase App Check and Firebase Remote Config to protect our servers from misuse and to configure the app. These services process device and app information to do so.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

Our app relies on third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies. Your data may be processed on their servers outside the country where you live.

• Google Play Services, Google Sign-In & AdMob
• Firebase Privacy and Security
• Apple (Sign in with Apple)
• Meta (Audience Network)

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Children's Privacy

Geo Battles is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. You can play as a guest without providing any personal details such as a name or email address. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Keeping and Deleting Your Data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Full details, including what to do if you can no longer access the app, are on our Delete Your Account page.

Please note that deleting the app from your device does not delete your account data from our servers. If you play as a guest and delete the app, you may lose access to your account, so please delete your account in the app first, or contact us, if you want your data removed.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, email us at the address below. If you are in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
